LSU LCMC Health Cancer Center
Developing World-class Cancer Care
The LSU LCMC Health Cancer Center is advancing a bold vision for Louisiana’s future by uniting cutting-edge research, compassionate patient care, and world-class education to confront one of the state’s greatest health challenges. As Louisiana works to improve cancer outcomes, the Cancer Center is building the foundation for lasting impact through expanded access to clinical trials, breakthrough discoveries, top-tier physician and scientist recruitment, and the training of the next generation of cancer leaders.
Serving patients across Louisiana and beyond, the Cancer Center is helping ensure that more families can receive leading-edge cancer care close to home rather than traveling out of state. At the same time, its research enterprise is driving innovation, attracting competitive federal funding, and strengthening the state’s economy through high-wage jobs and scientific growth.
A key milestone in this journey is pursuit of National Cancer Institute designation, an elite national recognition earned by only the nation’s leading cancer centers. Achieving this status would mark a transformational step for Louisiana, validating the excellence already underway while accelerating new opportunities in research, prevention, treatment, and economic development.
LSU has a unique opportunity to help lead this moment, strengthening a healthier, more innovative, and more prosperous future for every community in the state.
